As part of action C3.2 – In-situ conservation of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, the Terceira Island Environment and Climate Action Service team recently planted 13 specimens of Angelica lignescens at Turfeira da Lomba.

This endemic species of the Azores, protected by the Habitats Directive, plays a fundamental role in the Archipelago’s biodiversity. The Park Rangers carefully collected the seeds used, which were then successfully propagated at the Faial Botanic Garden.

Turfeira da Lomba was chosen for this planting due to its ideal conditions, namely the banks of the watercourses, which offer the perfect combination of light, water and nutrients essential for the healthy development of this species.
