During the month of April, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, visited Fajã dos Cubres, on the island of São Jorge. It is one of the project’s intervention areas through Action C4.1 – Conservation of terrestrial habitats.
At this location, it was possible to see that conservation work is well underway (Action C3.2 – Ex-situ conservation). The propagation of Azorean Coastal Forget-me-not (Myosotis maritima) was a success, and it was possible to verify that the population at this site is expanding, propagating naturally by seeds, and this species is now in flower, which will allow a continuous propagation from now on, ensuring the maintenance of this population.
Furthermore, the opening of the channels and construction of the walkways, which began in 2021, are now in their final phase, recalling that this process was necessary to enable the circulation of water, thus avoiding the eutrophication of this lagoon.
