Conservation work in the Caveiro intervention area on the island of Pico continues apace and includes installing a fence to exclude livestock. A number of native tree species, characteristic of this habitat, have been planted here to improve the area’s conservation status and promote ecological recovery.

The Pico Forestry Service produced all the plants introduced in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, which coordinates the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project and this forestry service. This collaboration reinforces the joint commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural heritage of the Azores.
