At the end of July, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the São Miguel Environment and Climate Change Service, installed a fence around the Lagoa do Fogo viewpoint and removed Chilean Rhubarb (Gunnera tinctoria), an invasive plant that has spread to this location.
The installation of this fence makes it possible to more effectively demarcate the areas where the project has already carried out some conservation work, namely the removal of invasive species and the planting of native species. The aim is to protect these areas from trampling and prevent damage to the areas intervened with conservation work.
