Last September, the Graciosa Environment and Climate Action Service carried out conservation work on the islets of Graciosa, intervention areas of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, to follow up on various conservation actions, namely:
lhéu da Praia:
- Survey of the existing flora on the islet;
- Removal of invasive species;
- Replacement of ARUs (Acoustic Recording Units) to record the songs of seabirds;
- Installation of a photometer on the geodesic landmark.
Ilhéu de Baixo:
- Survey of the existing flora on the islet;
- Removal of the fence used to monitor lizards;
- Cleaning up invasive species.
All these actions are part of the conservation work of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, more specifically actions C6.1 – Restoration of habitats on islets for the conservation of seabirds and C8.1 – Control and eradication of invasive alien species in restored terrestrial habitats.
