As part of actions C4.1 – ‘Good practices for the conservation of terrestrial habitats’ and C8.1 – ‘Control of alien species in restored habitats’ of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, work was carried out on cutting and felling cryptomeria (Cryptometia japonica), in collaboration with the São Miguel Environment and Climate Change Service.

Lagoa do Fogo is one of the intervention areas of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project on the island of São Miguel. The aim here is to restore existing terrestrial habitats by replacing alien and invasive species with native species that structure these ecosystems.
