On the island of Graciosa, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the Faial Botanic Garden and the Graciosa Environment and Climate Action Service, planted around 80 specimens of Azorina vidalii in Baía das Canas and Ponta da Restinga.
The seeds of this species were collected on Ilhéu de Baixo and then sent to the Faial Botanic Garden, where they germinated. During November, the Graciosa Environment and Climate Action Service planted them to reinforce the planting of this population species on Graciosa island and thus contribute to improving its conservation status.
This work is part of Action C3.2, ‘Implementation of pilot works for the conservation of endemic flora – In-situ conservation’, of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project.
