The pioneering conservation work in high-altitude ecosystems – Morro Alto and Caldeira Branca, in Flores – carried out under the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, was presented by the Director of the Environment and Climate Action Service of Flores island, Fedra Machado, at the Mountains for Sustainability workshop.
This event, organised by COST ACTION SHiFT, took place in the territory of the UNESCO World Geopark Estrela, in Serra da Estrela, on 14 and 15 October.
The event was attended by participants from Portugal, Spain, Albania, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Turkey, who shared contributions on sustainability in mountain ecosystems, as well as artistic expressions related to this theme.
