Last July, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the Graciosa Environment and Climate Change Service, carried out an action to monitor the Cory’s Shearwater nests located on the Ilhéu da Praia on the island of Graciosa to verify the breeding success of the Cory’s Shearwater that nested there.
Of the 59 Cory’s Shearwater nests monitored, 27 had an adult and an egg, 4 had an adult, but it was impossible to check for an egg, and 14 were empty. Due to their characteristics, it was not possible to monitor the remaining 14 nests.
In addition to this work, all the monitoring equipment on this islet, which helps with seabird conservation work, was also checked and updated.
