Within the scope of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE BEETLES projects, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change promoted a public clarification session regarding the projects’ nature conservation actions, directed at agricultural entrepreneurs on Pico Island.
In this session, some of the actions carried out by the projects were described, aiming at transmitting the necessity of the conservation of some areas, while at the same time listening to the opinions and suggestions of local farmers.
The importance of nature conservation in general and the benefits it bestows upon agriculture were two of the addressed topics, considering that it is intended to create a sustainable model for agricultural activities, in order to guarantee more effective conservation of N2000 Network sites.
This event was part of action C13.2 (Minimizing the negative impacts of agriculture on the Natura 2000 Network) of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, and action A2 (Reinvolvement of stakeholders) of the LIFE BEETLES project.
