Lagoa do Fogo

The following interventions of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project will take place in the intervention area in Lagoa do Fogo to promote the restoration of the natural habitats:
– Mechanical removal of exotic and invasive species, mainly Cryptomeria japonica, Acacia melanoxylon, Hedychium gardnerianum, Rubus ulmifolius, Leycesteria formosa and Ulex europaeus;
– Planting of native species that occur naturally in this area: Erica azorica, Juniperus brevifolia, Vaccinium cylindraceum, Viburnum treleasei, Prunus lusitanica subsp. azorica, Ilex perado subsp. azorica, Laurus azorica, Myrsine retusa and Calluna vulgaris.
