SPEA is starting the annual count of Azores bullfinch Pyrrhula murina in São Miguel. This year we should have celebrated the Priolo Atlas, with 50 volunteers counting Azores bullfinches simultaneously, but it was not possible due to the pandemic.

In 2022 we hope to be able to perform this action and to have an even more robust estimate of the population size of this unique bird of the Azores. Meanwhile, SPEA will be counting until the end of the month and any visitor can contribute with information of its sightings in the existing map in the Priolo’s Environmental Center.
